Sliding Into The New Year With JDM Classics

Getting blown away on New Years Eve wasn’t on top of my list of things I wanted to be at on the final day of the year, alas, I wanbted to shake off the ring rust and fire myself into 2025 with the bit between my teeth, ready to make some new friends and hopefully fall out with some old ones!

All jokes aside, running around Mondello Park in a heavy rain had a certain freshness to it. A sight that I grew tired not to long ago felt like a fresh canvas with which to work from. I just want to drive home how absolutely miserable the weather was because it made filming incredibly difficult. Water got into everything, my microphones, filters and most importantly, my boots(big sad). Its a shame I dont show more of myself around here because if you saw me that day you’d assume I was maybe going hiking The Spinc in Glendalough and not at a drift event.

That drift event, if you aren’t aware is JDM Classics, run by good friend and very recent S-Chassis buddy Nikki. Whenever I think of these events, the term ‘support those that support you‘ is always what comes to mind. Be it friendship, working relationships or otherwise, it is always a two-way street and that my friends, is advice for life. Now, less of my wandering and rambling and more skids, right?!

I have to say, for a new years event, the quality of machine on display both on and off track was quite good. A lot of stuff I havent seen before and of course some delicious stuff that I’d quite happily look at all the time like the lads from Retro Autos.

Seriously though, the resilience of the Irish in adverse weather conditions is something truly to be admired and I think the latest video, which is now live and available to view at the end of this article, perfectly portrays our desire as a nation to have fun regardless of how wet it is outside.

Running around for most of the day and spending the whole morning on track, I wandered into the pits at lunch to look for the guy who was trying to rev the misfire out of his car all morning, although I think he’d left by the time I got there. I did however, run into a few familair faces and catching up Deco, Maeve, Andrew and a few others was really refreshing. Was also cool to see Adrian pedal a blacked out 350z on track, looked and sounded great!

Really enjoyed getting a look at Nikkis VSKF-clad widebody PS13. This thing just oozes presence and style and I can’t wait to see how she’ll add her own touches to what is already a sick car!

Big thanks to Nikki as always for sorting me out with all the passes and access I need to make these videos, it was great to be back in a familair yet refreshing environment. I just hope I can come back in shorts at some point, I’m already gone incredibly pale.
